چکیده

UNLABELLED In this in vitro study, examination of the morphological changes of enamel surface after topical application of a sodium fluoride solution was performed. Validation of the Fluorostom effectiveness became possible, after 10 years of using for the caries prevention national program. MATERIALS AND METHODS Sound human enamel sections, ware treated with a 0.05% sodium fluoride solution. Demineralization areas were created with 37% phosphoric acid etching gel for 60 seconds. The demineralization areas were immersed in 100 mL of sodium fluoride solution, twice daily for 30 days. Surface examination was performed at scanning electron microscope and energy dispersion spectrometry. RESULTS Morphological appearance of fluoride deposits on the enamel surface revealed the presence of globular precipitates. EDX qualitative analysis revealed the presence of fluoride signals. CONCLUSIONS Globular structures of amorphous CaF2 precipitates, which act as a fluoride reservoir, were observed on the enamel surface after action of Fluorostom, and it can be recommended to prevent and control tooth decay.

Comparative Study Using Scanning Electron Microscopy and Energy Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopy to Assess Morphological Modifications to the Enamel Surface Produced by Three Sodium Fluoride Solutions

Aims: The first aim of this in vitro study was the comparative assessment of enamel surface morphology and analytical assessment of calcium and fluoride ions after topical application of three sodium fluoride solutions: solutions A and B having the same concentration (0.05% sodium fluoride) and solution C having a higher concentration (0.1% sodium fluoride). The second aim was to assess the rem...

Clinical and scanning electron microscopic features of invasive cervical resorption in a maxillary molar.

This case report presents clinical and morphological features of severe invasive cervical resorption (ICR) involving a maxillary first molar. Surface morphology of the ICR defect that extended into enamel was studied using a scanning electron microscope. The topography and morphology of resorbed enamel and pulpal surfaces are described. The pulpal space was characterized by proliferation of fib...

Morphological and histochemical investigation of the camel (Camelus dromedarius) abomasal mucous membrane by light and scanning electron microscopy (SEM)

Morphological and histochemical study of the abomasal epithelium in camel (Camelus dromedarius) wascarried out by light and scanning electron microscopes. The lining of the abomasum was divided into fourregions, i.e. cardiac, pseudocardiac, fundic and pyloric. Our investigation revealed that the cardiac andpseudocardiac regions occupy a wide part of the abomasum in camel and it reaches approxim...
